How do I price concrete work on an invoice?+
By the square foot, with thickness and finish stated (a 4in broom-finish slab prices differently than 6in stamped). Then itemize excavation, base, and rebar separately — the prep is often half the job.
Should excavation and base prep be separate lines?+
Yes. Digging out, grading, and laying compacted gravel are labor and material the client won't see under the finished slab. Itemizing protects your price against quotes that lowball by skipping prep.
Do concrete jobs take a deposit?+
Usually — material and mobilization are paid up front. Show the full total, the deposit as a paid line, and the balance due so the final invoice reconciles cleanly with what they already paid.
